LEPIDOPTERA

Every year, a week in the month of July is dedicated to the collection of data related to Moths, nocturnal insects, who, along with Butterflies and Skippers make up the taxonomical order, Lepidoptera. Here at Anagiri, this diverse group of insects is found in abundance. To celebrate National Moth Week, 2021, here is a poem from The Girl From Anagiri.

Lepidoptera: Butterflies, Moths and Skippers!

Each difficult to tell from the other.

Pretty Butterflies and Skippers through the day flutter, while

In the night Moths bewitch with colours galore.

Delightful and Delicate sights to behold are they

Often sparking the wildest ideas

Perched on flowers, walls and trees

These Lepidopterans come in all shapes and sizes

Each mesmerizingly captivating come night or day

Radiant sights of beauty displayed on their wings

Alighting from their perches they paint tales with colours so vivid.

A word to add to my vocabulary 'Lepidoptera'. Keep up the good work Tina.

Growing up on the mountains has inspired a fierce love for nature in me. Combining my passion for nature and writing, I welcome you to the wonderful paradise of my home, ANAGIRI. Where Boars, Bisons and Elephants walk free. Where Butterflies and Birds fill the skies. Where the aroma of roasting coffee fills the air. Where the stars are that much closer and where man and nature come together in a beautiful symphony.
